Spring Break Fashion

By Kaitlyn Berger '21

About a year ago today, I wrote my very first article for The Vivette Times: Spring Break Fashion. It is crazy to look back on how much can change in a year. I became an official member of The Vivette Times team, fashion trends came and went, and yes, the Coronavirus turned life upside down. Although the pandemic may have interrupted your travel plans, it doesn’t have to interrupt your wardrobe! Below is a roundup of this years’ best spring trends, perfect for whatever your spring break plans may be.

Old-School Sneakers

As a soccer player that can only last a few minutes in heels, I love this trend. From classic styles of Nike and Vans to “grandpa” New Balance sneakers, there are plenty to choose. Wear a pair of timeless tennis shoes to dress down a dressier outfit or to stand out in athleisure.

Loose Jeans

The different styles and fits of jeans are endless, but the looser styles are very “in.” This spring, flip the “big shirt little bottoms” style the other way around. Personally, I find looser fitting pants to be more flattering, but go with whatever fit, tight or baggy, that makes you the most confident.

Miniskirts

With warmer weather comes higher hemlines. Rather than rolling your uniform skirt, get out and show some leg in a miniskirt. Check out these examples:

Exaggerated Shoulders

This playful style draws the eye upward and allows you to keep things simple from the waist down. Pair a puff sleeve with some basic pants or jeans. Also, without skin clinging fabric, sweat stains in the warm temperatures are no more. Comfy pants and sweat stain free? It’s a win-win.

Swimwear

It is time to update your swimsuit drawer. Some notable swimsuit trends for 2021 are sculpted underwire, keyhole cutouts, animal print, and asymmetrical silhouettes. Although some of these may give you odd tan lines, they are all super cute.
