Hey Viz Community! It's January now, so you know what that means. The basketball season is in full swing and your varsity Vivettes have had a historic start to the 2022-2023 season! We are now 14 games into our season and our record stands at 9-5 with one of the toughest schedules in the state. The team has shown tremendous grit and talent out on the court these past few weeks after two good tournaments.
For starters, in our own Viz Christmas tournament, we placed 6th out of 16 really good teams. We advanced to the quarterfinals of the tourney and lost by a slim 5 points for our chance to the semifinals! We played some of our best basketball that Viz has seen in years, which was very exciting. The winner of our tournament this year was considered the #1 team in the country according to Max Preps, along with the runner up being last year's state champion, if that gives you a good idea of the competition! Viz had its best showing since 2004.
Right after the new year, we jumped straight into the John Burroughs Invitational and won two straight games to go to our first championship since I've ever been here. Although we didn't bring home the winner, we learned a lot yet again after playing the best teams in the state. While our schedule has been tough, there is no doubt among the team that this is preparing us to make even more historic runs in late February and hopefully March!
Thanks for all your support!
