  • Fall Musical Update #2

By Bella Leonard '21 After having our first Act 1 run through, I am pleased to say the fall musical Once Upon a Mattress is taking beautiful shape! Tickets went live for the entire school Friday and are selling at a record-breaking pace, with 400 of the 600 tickets already sold. Costumes are being sewn by Mr. Strohmeyer and his team of student volunteers and they all look stunning. Mr. Hartley and the fabulous tech theatre class, as well as the crew members, have assembled a wonderful set that has transformed the stage into the castle straight out of Middle Aged Europe. And a wonderful shoutout to the theatre marketing team for creating this stunning logo!

  • Jordan Tierney: Player to Watch

Nominated by St. Louis Post Dispatch Congratulations to Jordan Tierney '20. She was selected by the St Louis Post-Dispatch as one of the five players in the St. Louis area to watch for the 2019 field hockey season. Jordan was selected First Team All-Metro, mainly because she saved 90% of all shots against her the last season. We cannot wait to see what you do this year, Jordan!

  • Update on the Fall Musical

By Bella Leonard '21 The cast of the fall musical, Once Upon a Mattress, just wrapped up their fourth week of rehearsals. Mr. Strohmeyer, our fearless director, had the entire cast complete character analysis sheets to help flush out the story line as well as their characters'. Mrs. Isom choreographed almost all of Act I and the cast knew all of the group numbers, thanks to the musical direction of Mr. Schweizer. The set is currently taped out on the floor, which aids the cast in knowing their own limits in movement and where to enter and exit. Overall, there is a rough outline of the show--which is ahead of schedule. The show will run from October 10-12.

  • Senior Sleepover

By Grace Kalil '20 The night of the senior sleepover was filled with music, sign making, and zip line accidents. Seniors started arriving at Anna Dennison's house at 10 pm the night before the school year started. While some sat on the porch outside, others drew signs in the basement. Around 11:30 everyone moved to the basement and sat in a circle in preparation for a giant 86-person game of Never Have I Ever. Secrets were spilled while all the girls left. After the chaos of the game, some girls moved to the upstairs to play card games. Girls started to fall asleep around 2 in the morning, although some stayed up all night. Holly Hunt said that, "staying up all night was an awesome bonding experience, but I regretted it at tennis the next day." Alarms sounded at 5 a.m. so all the seniors could get ready for Morning Mayhem. Everyone drove into Viz around 6:45 with Starbucks and silly string in hand. Melody Lu commented that she "couldn't have asked for a better kickoff to [her] last year." Check out the Morning Mayhem photos on the homepage and a video on the video tab!
