  • Is it too early to start Christmas Cheer?

It is a hot debate every year whether or not to start decorating and Christmas music on November 1st or wait till after Thanksgiving. Many people argue their sides and put up a fight to what they think is the right time to start the Christmas celebration. Stores are already decked out with all their trees and garlands. Many people would agree that after Thanksgiving is the time to start hanging up the tree but one Christmas queen would say otherwise. Mariah Carey thinks the Christmas Season should start on November 1st. I personally think that Thanksgiving is misunderstood and undervalued at the end of the day. A celebration where we celebrate everything we are grateful for as we watch some classic American football and feast on turkey sounds like a great day to me. It is a great day that many want to just "get passed" to focus on the Christmas cheer. I think more people would love thanksgiving if there was a song or jingle for everyone to hear.

  • Thanksgiving Must Have

Blue Jello. Jello Jello Oh how I love Jello Not the type you are thinking For its thanksgiving Jello with cool whip Yeah ill pull up to the crib Yes I said with cool whip Now go grab your bib You can use any type Red, orange, blue, purple The orange one kind of sucks No one likes it, not even the ducks Blue is where it's at Don't drop your hat So this year everyone get blue jello And tell your grandma hello I'm honored to be a guess writer. Poetry is where it's at, so I wrote a poem about my favorite thing about thanksgiving, blue jello. It's just normal jello with cool whip mixed in. It's so good so make it this year if you want a lit thanksgiving that will bring the family cheer. PS if you live wild, turn it into a pie.

  • Top Three Scariest Horror Movies

With Halloween just around the corner, it's the perfect time to cuddle up on the couch with some candy and watch a horror movie. If you love a good scare, here are the top three movies that you should watch this spooky season (spoilers ahead!!). Hereditary: This supernatural film follows a family struggling with the death of their strange and secretive grandmother. While they knew that the deceased women had odd interests, they never imagined that her activities would give them such a deadly fate. The list of ominous events in the movie is long: the family's youngest child is decapitated, the mother unknowingly befriends her mother's fellow cult member, and the oldest child's body is overtaken by the cult's god, Paimon. The tension in the movie sent shivers down my back, and the ending left me with an icky feeling in my stomach, in a good way. Annabelle: Creation: Giving the backstory to the hit film Annabelle, this movie has some of the best jump scares that I have ever seen. The fear and suspense portrayed by Janice (Talitha Bateman) bring the story to life. The gory scenes and demonic faces look terrifyingly real. The final scenes of the are the most action packed 20 minutes of any horror film I have ever seen. Not only is this movie amazing, but it also adds dimension to the rest of the Annabelle movies and ties loose ends from the first movie. Get Out: Slasher and paranormal horror movies are great, but nothing beats this psychological thriller. Although it seems slightly predictable, I never would have guessed the completed storyline of this movie. The betrayal by one of the main characters left me speechless. There is the perfect combination of suspense and humor in the film. Along with being an entertaining watch, it touches on social injustices in an appropriate way. Finally, the main character, Chris (Daniel Kaluuya), is a likeable character that will make you pray for his victory.

We had two girls individually place top 10 with Avery McLaughlin placing 7th shooting 75, 77 and Grace Fagan placing 10th shooting 78, 75. As one of the only underclassmen on the state team, Annie Rothery came in hot shooting 88, 81, playing exceptionally well under pressure for her very first State Tournament. If you wear this costume 50 times, which you will, its basically only 10 dollars each time you wear it! 5. • A Haunted House Disaster

It was the spooky season, and everyone was going to see the scariness at the fright fest. My family friends invited me to go with them and I was very hesitant because I don’t like scary seasons or anything scary at all. Especially at this time I was a small little 9-year-old who was scared to sleep with the lights off let alone scary monsters and goblins. But I thought this would be a good experience for me and maybe I would get over my fear of Halloween, at least that is what I thought. We were in the car on the way to Six flags and I was shaking with fear, I was telling everyone how I thought this was a bad idea and how maybe this was a bad idea for me to go. Everyone kept telling me it was going to be alright and nothing bad was going to happen to me. Finally, it was time we arrived, and I could hear all the screams from the people inside. We got through security and so far, I didn’t see any crazy monsters or people in costumes, I thought I was safe (I was definitely wrong). We started walking and people were jumping out at me and were chasing me all over the park. I was absolutely tariffed and was shaking and haven’t even gone through a haunted house yet. We got to the first haunted house; this was time for me to face every fear. We are waiting in line and I was shaking like I saw a ghost and my face was turning like one too. Now, it was time that I had been waiting for, we were walking in and at first it wasn’t bad, just a couple miner jump scares. Then the next thing I know is we are in a room that starts shaking and the lights are flickering and then suddenly people jump out at every direction. This was beginning to become to much for me my heart was racing so fast and I was screaming and balling out of fear and the next thing I know I passed out. My friend’s dad had to pick me up and carry me out of the emergency exit, and the next thing I remember is waking up outside with people all around me. I was so scared I ended up blacking out and passed out. I had to get checked out by the paramedics to make sure there were no medical issues, there weren’t any. I was just so scared out of my mind that my body shut down. It was the most surreal moment of my life and ever since that moment I have never stepped foot into a haunted house.

  • Parking Lot Victim

As many who know me are aware, parking is not my strong suit. My name is Carlee Saur and I am a victim of parking lots. My first occurrence happened on August 19, 2022. I was driving two of my teammates to the Nerinx Jamboree. I was parking, did not take my time, and crashed into the car next to me. This was a great way to begin my pregame ritual. My second offense was on May 8, 2023. I was driving to lunch with two of my junior apostolic friends and crashed when leaving the parking lot. This was very traumatic for me. My parents came to the conclusion that my car will not be fixed until I can go without crashing in a parking lot for a year. This is a reminder for everyone to drive safely! If you see a gray Nissan Rogue with a dent in the front, make sure to stop and say hi!

  • My Traumatic Starbucks Experience

During the second full week of school, I decided to wake up a little early so I could go to Starbucks and get a coffee. With my mobile order placed, I drove my way down clayton road until I hit the intersection at Lindbergh. I turned into the Schneithorst's parking lot and pulled into an open spot. As quickly as I could, I got out of my car to go retrieve my drink. I was in a hurry because of Viz's recently instituted demerit punishment for being tardy. I walked passed a line of cars. Everything was fine until I stepped in front of what I thought to be an empty sedan. In the blink of an eye, I was laid out on the trunk's lid. I was a bit confused as to what had just happened. I realized that I had been hit by the car. A 20-ish-year-old man scurried out of the car to check on me. After making sure I was okay, he gave me some very important advice that I will always remember: "you should really be more careful when you are walking in a parking lot. I could have really hurt you." I was so grateful that the man who forgot to check if there was a pedestrian behind him before pulling out of his parking spot was kind enough to share his wisdom with me. I ended up being late to school that day, because I took a little time to sit in my car and reflect after I picked up my drink. I was quite frazzled, but I was able to slay the rest of the day away. Not as hard as the car slayed me, though. I will never forget about this, as the demerit I received is a constant reminder of that wonderful morning. Moral of the story is the Lindbergh and Clayton sucks on all levels.

  • Bad Traffic

Have you recently gotten a demerit from being late to school all because of the backed up traffic? Well I have too. In the past 2 weeks my normal 10 minute trip to school has been extended to 25 minutes all because of some silly traffic. I'm sure many of you can relate to this. Whether you take I-64, 270, Ballas Rd, or even Clayton Rd. to school, somehow, they all seem to find a way to get backed up. I've even tried taking different routes to avoid hitting the stubborn traffic but it always seems to find a way to ruin my day. The construction on I-64 has been going on way too long. I mean what are they even fixing? I sure don't appreciate having to go 15 miles an hour on the highway everyday when I am driving to school. I am tired of having to wake up and leave at least 10 minutes early every day just to avoid being late. I just sure hope the traffic clears up soon so I can actually start getting places on time.

  • Golf in Full Swing

The 2023 Viz golf season started with the very first Viz-hosted tournament called the Viz-A-Tational. The tournament field consisted of competitive teams including Father Tolton, Jackson, St. Joe, Cor Jesu, and many more. The tournament was played at Sunset Country Club. Viz won as a team with a new record set of 314 and an individual new record of 71(-1 )was set. The team who played featuring Avery McLaughlin(71), Grace Fagan(80), Abby Winter(81), and Reese Robson (82) all contributed to the new record. A honorary mention of freshmen, Annie Rothery and Caroline Miller who played in their first Varsity tournament. The Vivettes then played in the Missouri Illinois River Challenge at the Orchards in Belleville, Illinois. This tournament hosted 5 Missouri teams and 5 Illinois teams to compete for the cup by taking the top two scores of each team. Although falling one short of a team win, the record that was previously set had been broken. The new team record was set at 309 featuring Avery McLaughlin(70), Grace Fagan(79), Reese Robson and Annie Rothery (80) with honorable mentions of Abby Winter and Olivia McLaughlin. Team Missouri retained the cup for the first time in 5 years. The team has not lost a 9-hole match this season and is faced with a tough schedule for the continuity of it. Districts will be played at Westborough Country Club where the Vivettes will compete for a chance to go to the state championships.
